Freddy Brown, 516 Rediger Dr., Scottsville, Ky. 42164 I am in the possession of a family bible that belonged to a family who moved from Sumner Co., Tennessee to Ilinois in the 1830s. I got the bible from a man in Illinois who handled an estate for the last owner of the bible. There was apparently no surviving next of kin to pass it on to. He second handedly heard of my researching Browns in Sumner Co. and sent it to me a few years ago. I was at that time unable to determine the specific Brown line from Sumner County, so I just dropped the project and pushed the bible aside for the time. Now I would like for the investigation to resurface. 1-- Unknown Brown sp-Unknown 2-- Isaac B. Brown (1811-1886) sp-B. Malinda (1818-1874) 3-- Virginia S. Brown (1836) 3-- James L. Brown (1839) 3-- William E. Brown (1843) 3-- Mary Elizabeth Brown (1847-1845) 3-- Baby Brown ( -1848) 3-- Isaac N. Brown (1849-1890) 3-- Charles C. Brown (1854) 2-- Preston Brown (1821) 2-- Elizabeth Brown (1821) sp-Unknown 3-- Gabriel Francis Brown (1841) 3-- Mary Ellen Brown (1843-1845) 3-- Baby Brown (1848) Isaac's obituary mentions that he was born in Sumner County, TN. in 1811 and came to Randolph Co., ILL. with his parents in 1830 and then went to Montgomery Co. ILL. in 1867. Preston, age 39, was living with Isaac in the 1850 Randolph Co. census. Isaac ran for J.P. there and lived in a town called Steelmill. Both Isaac and Preston were merchants. I would like to know which Brown family that Isaac belongs. Someone in the family needs this bible.

Bennet Newlin (should read: Nowlin) married: Nancy Robinson in Madison Co. IL on 12Dec1814. I am most interested in the names of their children. Bennet Nowlin(born~1795 IL Territory) is the son of Lewis/Louis and Sarah Whiteside(s) Nowlin. Nancy Robinson may be the daughter of Richard Robinson. The Nowlin, Whiteside(s) and Robinson families are reported to have settled in the Illinois Territory in the 1790's, traveling through KY from Rutherford Co., NC. They are reported in several Illinois counties, including: Madison, St. Clair, Randolph, Monroe. Several family members purchased land in various counties in 1816, just prior to Illinois Statehood. I would also like to know where land was registered prior to statehood.
